1951 Hudson Hornet ad
Conceived in wartime, the 'Stepdown' bodies had been introduced in December 1947, making Hudson one of the first to offer true post-war models. The box-section chassis was integral with the body and surrounded the recessed floorpan. These 'Monobilt' automobiles, with new 'Skyliner' styling and 'Custom-Luxury' interiors, were in fact one of the safest designs ever made.
